how does armor rating work? - Guild Wars Forums

I was fighting some warriors with my Mesmer/Warrior, and my sword strikes only did 1 damage to them. Seemed to do OK damage against any other class though. Was this because warriors have lots of armor? How does armor work in relation to damage ?
